I found that the Filofax do not have enough room for what I need. I was going to use all planners for different parts of my life, then my sister showed me her LornaJane and I loved the layout of it. If you don’t know what I’m talking about here they are:2017 Diary
Because of my instant-love for my sister’s diary, that was my first go-to site. Even thought the diary are only $15, based in Australia the shipping would cost more.
And I decided a new planner with a vertical-layout planner would be perfect.
Two brands kept popping up in my research; Te Happy Planner and Erin Condren. I liked the sturdiness of the Erin Condren but there was no way on this pretty little planet that I was willing to splash that much money followed by the bad reviews of wrong formatting, wrong date, bad printing; that it was instantly a no-go.
And I bought:
If you don’t know, it’s The Happy Planner, this will hopefully keep me focused and organised for the rest of 2017 and 2018.
Hopefully it keeps my life on track. It’s working so far!!
300,000 word goal for 2016. I was going to start in December, but decided that starting my count from January 1st will be the easiest and I won’t feel like I’m cheating.
Here’s my bundle:
Was not expecting it to arrive this morning, I even went for a morning walk instead of sitting at the letter box.
When I got home the post had already arrived so presumed it hadn’t been delivered. Then a knock on the door. My new journal!!! I was stunned. I tought it was still in stuck in the USA for the last week.
I need to get myself a paper cutter because the pages I’m putting in need to be cut to size so aren’t straight on one side and the bottom. But who cares, for now.
I love it!!
- Steel Ruler,
- Paper Puncher
- Paper Clips
- Pritt stick,
- Pencil, rubber and sharpener.
I took the dive and bought…
I picked it because of it’s size. I’ve been on the search for a journal that’s between a Personal and A5- not too big, but big enough to write on. The rings are 1.5 so I can stuff it really fat. The leather ages and I adore the whole vintage vibe it gives off. There’s also no brand name on it- a bonus.
I’m still trying to recover from the price I paid, and still get hot flushes when I think about it. Just keep telling myself the money had been sitting there for months and wasn’t doing anything- it makes me feel a little better
I can’t wait for it to come in over 3 weeks from now. I don’t know how I’m going to survive. It killed me waiting over a week for my Filofax.
[I knew I was always going to get more than one planner, but honestly did not see myself getting a second within a month of my first.]
I didn’t even know how much I missed the smell of leather, and just writing with a pen is just amazing! I’m on the lookout for planner number 2. I know exactly what I want, but it’s a weird shaped planner.
Ever seen the journal from the show Supernatural? I don’t want that planner, but I just want it the same size as that planner- not too big or not too small. It’s just perfect for diary entries which I want to use it for, and I want the old vintage look to it, whether it ages amazingly or it comes already old, I don’t care. And I want big rings, so I don’t run out of space.
That’s not too much to ask, right? Well, finding that size planner has turned out to be near impossible. So, I emailed a company that makes journals to whatever your needs may be. I gave them the list of what I want, such as what type leather, what size rings, what type latch and pockets etc etc and I’m waiting to hear back from them. It’s going to be about €200 – €250, but what I have in my head is just perfect and I wont ever need another planner. This planner would be my life-long companion, and I’d still be jotting away in it when I’m grey and old. I just need to save the money up first.
If you guys know of any planners that fit those specs, please let me know.
Yes… I have completely gone planner-crazy.
I think I’ve fallen in love with it, and I just love writing in it, I haven’t written properly in years.
I love that you don’t have to turn on anything to see what’s on it and it doesn’t have to be synced with anything.
It’s already gotten a discoloration, which is weird. Checked the photo that I put up at 3pm today, there’s nothing. But now there’s a light mark on the front. I didn’t think the leather would change so quick. Don’t get me wrong, I love leather and aged beaten leather I just adore and cannot wait for my filofax to age and become unique, but I just wanted to hold onto the perfect newness a bit longer than a few hours.
I will eventually go up to an A5 size for my diary, it’s too cramped in personal-size, but until I get the money up I’ll just stick to the calendar and sticky notes for now.
It came this morning!!! My first ever Filofax.
Above is what I got from my first haul at the shops. Two black Flex Grip Ultra Paper Mate pens and an array of Paper Mate Inkjoy pens.
Accessories came to less than €10.
I was going to go for the Pilot Frixion Erasable Pen but my dad was shaking his head and I wasn’t in the mood to fight over the prices. So I left without them, but I’ll get them later on.
I’m not going crazy yet with the accesories, as im just getting started. I want to use the Filofax as more of a diary (you know, thoughts on the day and whatnot), but I need to use the pages I have already. For now, I’m just going to put everything into it and see how it goes.
Filofaxers, have any tips for a newby?
I get really impatient. Thank god I don’t have a tracking number for this parcel or I’d be checking it ten times every hour.
I hate this part. I keep going back and checking what I bought, knowing that it hasn’t changed, or I keep making sure I have the days right and that it should be here on Friday, knowing it’s not going to come any sooner. And with luck like mine, it probably wont come till the middle of next week.
I get really impatient waiting for parcels. It’s ridiculous. I’m a grown woman and I still get the buzz that Christmas use to give me, and waiting for the mail man to arrive.
I can’t wait to get my hands on my first ever Filofax! To finally plan out the sections and know exactly where everything is going to go and what pages to print off. To go shopping for pens and a pencil case and finally find out where to buy washi tape, a page puncher, and clips.
Friday morning I’ll wake up all giddy and practically sitting at the door waiting for the letter box to knock. Just for the post man not to arrive and having to wait till Monday for it to happen again.
Okay, I’ve been running around circles for the last few days trying to get my hand on a Filofax Malden. But to no avail.
I’m now thinking I should go to flea markets, just to see if I can pick something up, but I doubt I would and would be just wasting my time.
I really wanted a generic leather binder that didn’t have a brand pasted all over it, but Filofax is the closest thing I’m looking for.
Does anyone know of either a 3-ring or 6-ring binder for sale? I just want to vintage-ey look. The only thing is that it has to be brown, no matter the shade, I just prefer it.
I really need a personal diary, both for myself and professionally. So I need two.
I really wanted to get the Filofax Original in Red and Black, but I just can’t justify paying that ridiculous amount of money on a binder. I know it’s good quality, but I’d be looking at €150 for the two, and that’s not including pens and accessories I need to get to keep everything in check.
I am in dire need of help here. Does anyone know where I can get an original Filofax for about €40-€50 each? or any alternatives?
